Individual Counseling
- Short term, lasting from four to eight weeks
- Occurs once a week, or bi-weekly for about 15 - 30 minutes
- Goal is to help students develop coping strategies to deal with academic concerns, peer problems, and personal issues that interfere with school performance and learning
- Is NOT a substitute for mental health therapy
Small Group Counseling
- Groups consist of four to eight students with similar concerns
- Short term, about four to six sessions
- Sessions last about 30 minutes
- Goals are to help students develop strategies, or enhance skills to manage concerns that interfere with learning
Classroom Lessons
- Is planned to meet the developmental needs of each grade level
- Topics address current and specific needs of Lowe's Grove students, as well as addressing the NC Essential Guidance Standards
- Topic Examples include: Anti-Bullying, Social media and online Safety, Transition to High School, College & Career Readiness, Time Management, and Character Education
Consultation
- Creates school-family-agency collaboration through regular meetings with stakeholders
- Weekly problem solving meetings with teachers, CFST, MTSS, and Administrators to review and discuss the needs of individual students
- Overall goal is to create a supportive team for student success and achievement
